Misssissauga Metrostars - Major Arena Soccer League Season (Game Opener)

Game 1 - Baltimore Blast vs. Mississauga MetroStars

SECU Stadium, Baltimore, Maryland, United States of America

The Baltimore Blast celebrated their third straight championship in Baltimore against the Mississauga MetroStars. The MetroStars, a new indoor or arena pro soccer team coming into the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) were clearly the underdogs and it showed in their first ever pro soccer game in franchise history.

First Quarter:

Baltimore starts off with a quick start as Orlando gets a shot past the MetroStars goalkeeper. Juez scored shortly afterwards and Baltimore were leading 2-0 early in the game. Then with 8:26 remaining in the quarter Toratelli to Dos Santos for the Blast scored to make it 3-0 Baltimore. The MetroStars almost scored with two chances, one from a Mo Babouli pass and another one from Dwayne De Rosario's shot on goal. Mississauga's Dwayne De Rosario prevented Baltimore from scoring another goal with a a goal-saving kick, and the first quarter ends 3-0.

Second Quarter:

The second quarter was fast-paced started with the MetroStars starting to take control of the game. The MetroStars had many chances including a Demarki pass to Dwayne De Rosario, which narrowly missed the goal line.At the 8:05 mark in the second quarter, Dwayne De Rosario had a free kick and converted the kick perfectly, 3-1 Blast with plenty of minutes left in the second quarter.

Mo Babouli with lots of space scored with 3:51 left in the second quarter with a powerplay goal. THe Blast however, respond with a a powerplay goal with 2:13 left in the second quarter as a powerplay goal. Daniel Purazzo then scored with 0:18 seconds left in the second quarter.

Blast intercepted the ball almost scored Boncila almost scored. De Rosario's shot missed slightly.

Third Quarter

In the third quarter the gap between the Blast and the MetroStars were clear.

Uxy made a good move when passing to Melo to score the goal. In an unusual moment, Melo proposed to his girlfriend at a Baltimore Blast. Then Baltimore scored two more goals from Dantas and Andrew Hoxie scores to make it 8-2 Blast. Melo assisted to Andrew Hoxie's goal and the MetroStars were struggling throughout the quarter.

Fourth Quarter

The MetroStars struggled in the fourth quarter also as the MetroStars changed goalkeepers at the start of the fourth quarter. Dwayne De Rosario scores his second goal with a low-well placed shot past the goalkeeper, to make it 8-3 Blast over the MetroStars. It looked like the MetroStars were getting somewhere and almost scored straight afterwards only to be stopped by the goalkeeper. With 11:19 left Orlando passed to Juan for a 10-3 lead. Mo Babouli was also close to scoring again, but Baltimore continued the onslaught with a weak goal past the Mississauga MetroStars goalkeeper to make it 10-3 Blast over the MetroStars. Goalkeeper made another mistake by giving the ball away to Peruzzi who shot and missed, but the rebound came to Orlando to score the final goal of the game. 11-3 was the final score.

The MetroStars players had trouble adjusting to the indoor game which made sense as a lot of these Canadian players are used to playing the outdoor game. Dwayne De Rosario was not involved much in the defensive end, which was a big factor.
